My beliefs...
I believe it is the role of the teacher to relate the curriculum to the student in a holistic and meaningful way. The teacher not only meets the academic needs of the student but shapes the student’s perspective on the world around him. The teacher’s passion for educating should ignite the passion of the learner.
I believe that every student has different needs in the classroom, whether they are academic or emotional. The learner is the focus of the classroom which morphs to accommodate the students' unique needs.
I believe that the classroom community is a vital aspect in the building of a relationship between the teacher and learner, and therefore needs to be safe, welcoming, and efficient. When a classroom community works together to support one another with forgiveness, kindness, and encouragement, higher levels of learning will take place.
I believe the role of parents is powerful in complementing and reinforcing the learning that takes place during the school day. Teachers and parents should be in constant communication to help meet the specific needs of the learner. Parents are the biggest role models for the learners and should embrace the behaviors that are desired for them.
I believe the community should gather around the school, teachers, and learners in an effort to create a society where everyone thrives. When the learner and the teacher feel supported and needs on both ends are met, learning in the classroom can reach its full potential. The community is the uniting factor between all students and teachers in a district and is responsible for creating a spirit of pride and enthusiasm for learning.
